FAIR HOUSING RESOURCES
What is fair housing???
If your nonprofit organization would like a staff-training on fair housing, contact RHR and/or SWFHC about free training.
Southwest Fair Housing Council (SWFHC) is a nonprofit that serves as an excellent local resource on fair housing and fair lending issues. Contact SWFHC for more information on fair housing and to file a housing discrimination complaint.
The City of Flagstaff receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and is therefore obligated by law to affirmatively further fair housing. To see how they are doing, check out the report released May 2005: Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice.
Coconino County does not receive CDBG funds and is therefore not required to undertake fair housing initiatives. However, on April 4, 2006 (during fair housing month), the County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution 2006 - 15, adopting a fair housing policy making known its commitment to the principle of fair housing and describing actions it shall undertake to affirmatively further fair housing. (When I find a link to this policy, I'll add it...)
The State of Arizona Attorney General's Office accepts formal complaints of fair housing. RHR encourages anyone who feels they have been the victim of housing discrimination to first contact the Southwest Fair Housing Council for assistance.
The Arizona Fair Housing Partnership is a statewide coalition of government agencies, housing industry representatives, nonprofit organizations, social service agencies and housing advocates who support and promote equal fair housing opportunities.
Red Hawk Research provides other fair housing links on the Resources page.
